此外，Another case of practical work was his involvement in what was to become the Ada programming language. In the mid-1970s the US Department of Defense launched a tender for the design of a standard programming language. Four teams, color-coded for the sake of establishing a level-playing field, made it to the second round. Hoare and Wirth had consulted for the “Yellow” proposal, which lost to Jean Ichbiah’s “Green” design. One more round remained, involving Green as well as the Red design. I was at that point host to a little twist in the story.
